Reminiscence of the past (Lúthien) Empty Reminiscence of the past (Lúthien)

((You can consider the paragraphs displayed in Italic as a past event. If its loosely placed in normal text its a thought.))
After getting sorted into a cohort Ojobi decided to prepare his spot in the barracks. He had asked for some directions and ultimately ended up in front of the door to barrack three, home to the third cohort. After stepping inside and choosing an empty bunk bed, he dropped his bag with personal effects underneath it and unclasped his sword, dropping it on the bed itself. He sat down, eyeing the rest of the chamber. Bunk beds with personal effects where neatly set up in rows and he couldn't see anyone else inside. 'They must all be training.'He thought. Lost in thoughts he didn't really notice a girl entering before she was halfway past him. he looked up, realising she was the first demigod that hed had come to know. "Lúthien! how good to see you! You're in the third cohort too? How did your flight go?" He remembered how first they had met.

Back then he was working as a security guard on schiphol airport in Amsterdam. during that time he thought he was just a normal guy, knowing that all the gods and fantasy stories where just stories. Now that was about to change rapidly. His day had been going smoothly with him not seeing anything suspicious yet. The queue of people on their way to the metal detector and passport booths was going along at a decent pace. He had his uniform on with black jeans and blue shirt, and a cap that had the badge of airport security sticked to it. He had a police belt on with the keys for the doors and a taser device, just in case things got ugly.
His co-worker had just gone off to get a break when he spotted a rather tall and broad build man with a big trench coat on plus a leather hat and sunglasses that was standing rather nervous in the crowd. Deciding he would check up on him he walked towards him indicating that he was going to be passed trough an extra security check and that he would be in the plane faster if he passed this. Upon reaching him the man didn't say anything. He just stared at me snarling. I told him again to get clear and for some reason he started to growl. Not trusting it a single bit i grabbeds the walkey-talkey from my chestpocket and signalled a reluctant guest to the rest of security. But before I was able to say anything the man barreled into me and I was thrown a couple of meters back into a concrete collum. With the wind blown clear out of my lungs I coughed and staggeringly got back up.

Looking back at the man that assailed me the hairs in my neck started to stand on end. His hat and sunglasses had fallen off as he had hit me and Instead of there being a normal face he had only one big eye in the middle of where normally two eyes would be. Not believing what I saw I rubbed my eyes and looked again. Still the same image. "What the heck? stay right there!"Ofcourse the.... creature... didn't listen and started charging at me again. Deciding it would be a good timing I started grabbing for my taser. Just before the cyclops -Wich was the only thing it reminded me of- would have hit me I sidestepped and he rammed himself straight into the concrete pillar with a loud crack of breaking bone. By then the rest of the people around already started yelling for the police and running for a more safe area. Some of them even started taking photo's which I found pretty foolish. "Get clear people! Everyone out of this room now!" Just as I cleared the taser from its holster and started aiming the cyclops had recovered and turned halfway towards me, standing a little bit croocked just like a predator ready to lunge. He snarled at me with his face a bloody mess. "Sir get on the ground now! if you do not cooperate I will use force!" He knew he had taken the wrong job as he hardly dared to hurt anyone unless they had made the first blow, let alone his friends, not that he had many. The cyclops roared and pounced on me. Just before he hit me to the ground I was able to fire my taser. Yet the twin iron needles of the gun just harmlessly deflected from its skin and skithered to the ground, crackling with electricity. What was about to happen next was the turning point in my life.

Reminiscence of the past (Lúthien) Empty Re: Reminiscence of the past (Lúthien)

Lúthien walked into the barracks of third. She'd been out training earlier and getting rid of some stray emotions. The young daughter of Discordia was not expecting anybody in the barracks when she'd arrived though, and even less a familiar face she had never seen at camp before. After blinking a few times she looked at the person that was on one of the free bunks. Not one extremely close to her little chaos corner though, which probably was a good thing for him. "Hey, security dude." She said with a neutral expression when he greeted her and asked about her flight. She shrugged a little. "Third it is. Welcome, I guess." She said. She didn't exactly know how to deal with this. It had been quite some time since she'd seen some fresh blood in third and she hadn't exactly expected this dude, even though she'd known he was coming. "Flight went well. No other stray monsters." She said with a slight shrug, throwing her dagger into the bunk below her own. The little Edelweiss hairclip was in her hair as always, which was a good thing. Or at least, it had been when she'd first met what's-his-name-again.

Lúthien had been waiting in line on the airport in order to catch a plane to Austria. With a disturbingly large amount of money in her clutch and still wearing the stupid dress Venus had put on her for the New Years party in Spain, Lúthien was not in a good mood. She was radiating chaos and most of the people in line were starting to show some effect. She had always known chaos messed with peoples head but that day she'd made a startling discovery. Even monsters could be effected by it. The large form just ahead of her in line had been a very suspicious figure and Lúthien had checked the presence of her hairclip several times after looking at him. She suspected he was a monster but she didn't plan to attack him at random. That wouldn't be logical, even less so with her current outfit. An elegant black dress with golden details, sparkling jewels that were by far more expensive than Lúthien cared to think about and high heeled shoes that made Lúthien want to throw things at people. Not the right outfit for fighting monsters. The suspected monster finally seemed to lose it when a security guard (fairly young lad, about Lúthiens age) asked him to participate in an extra security check. Not a good plan it seemed.

The thing, a Cyclops, decided to attack the guard, which had Lúthien rolling her eyes, wanting to slap the monster. Even though people instantly crowded around, the guard stood his ground. Quite foolish and maybe brave, Lúthien wasn't quite sure. She was made sure when the guard tried to taser the monster. "First Venus and now this." Lúthien muttered while watching the struggle and the camera's clicking and taking pictures. She felt sorry for the poor guard though, fighting a mythological monster without help and without any celestial bronze. She decided to help and attempted pushing through the crowds, which wasn't too easy since nobody took her serious looking the way she did. Lúthien was a beautiful young woman and with all the rich jewels an the fancy dress, she hardly looked like fighter material. When a man decided tell her it was too dangerous for a woman like her to get close to the struggle, she was done with it.

"Oh for the sake of Mercury, move!" She said while shoving some people out of her way in order to get toward the fight. Taking one of her shoes off and throwing it at the cylops, she advanced toward the fight. "I'm right here you blundering idiot!" She said in irritation. As if life wasn't bad enough yet. "Stop bugging the guard and have a bite of chaos and discord." She said defiantly as the monster turned to face her. She pulled the clip from her hair and with a single click it turned into her trusty lochaber axe. Herald of Chaos. She smiled as the cyclops prepared for a head on charge. "That's right. Bring your pretty face to my axe." She muttered as she heard some people behind her gasp in disbelief. She wasn't sure what they saw but she doubted they thought she could handle it. The monster charged and rather than going for the easy and obvious kill, Lúthien changed directions at the last moment, landing her axe in the stomach of the creature. She kicked him off her axe and stabbed him with the point on top, straight in the neck. The monster took a hold of her leg and she landed on the floor with a smack. With another swing of her axe the monster faded to dust, leaving Lúthien with a sprained ankle, a bruised rib and a very foul mood.

"Did you ever get in trouble with your boss?" She asked curiously. After the mess with her and the cyclops, she didn't really think he got away without some sort of trouble. Trouble always seemed to happen to demigods. Lúthien just had some extra bad luck on that point, with Venus deciding to spice up her life for a bit. That had been one truckload of trouble.

"Security dude? hah, i'd figured you would have forgot my name. It's Ojobi to freshen up your mind. I just arrived yet I didn't believe they would put me in the same cohort as you. Good though, atleast I now know someone here beforehand." Sitting down on the bed crosslegged, with his rapier on his lap he noticed her hairclip that he knew could turn into the form of a hooked halberd at her leisure. Not exactly remembering what the actual name was of the weapon. "You remember I told you about my heirloom?" He picked up his rapier by the hilt and unsheathed it. Looking at his reflection in the polished edge he remembered the fight with the cyclops and how much he had missed this weapon in that fight.

The thing stood up. Leaving him battered on the ground, some wounds on his head and atleast two broken ribs but fine for the rest. he flinched as he saw a girl about his age with long black hair in a dress run up to the thing with something that looked like a polearm. "Okay....What have I been drinking?" He quickly got up and charged right after the cyclops that was now assailing the girl. Even though the girl had a weapon - Where she got it from was a mystery to him - He was determined not to stand around doing nothing. He saw the girl falling down and delivering a blow to the neck of the creature, yet it still fought on. Just as he reached the thing it had already dissapeared, somehow. He saw the girl lying on the ground, her weapon suddenly gone and he raised an eyebrow. Still not believing what he had seen. Helping the girl up he could see the rest of the crowd staring in disbelief and a whole squad of other guards rushing trough the transit corridor. Before they could do anything he waved them off. Signaling he got it sorted. They quickly started removing the other people from the building. "Ma'am, you alright? I'll have to talk to you, follow me please." She looked hurt in atleast some places and he decided to have a chat with her in one of the chambers designed to hold suspicious people for examining. Helping her to the room and grabbing a medkit off the wall as he went he closed the door and locked it behind him. Putting her down on a chair. He examined her briefly, noting the swelling around her ankle and quickly grabbing a cold-pack and a towel from the kit to stem the swelling. He sat down on the oposite chair, taking hold of his chest with one arm and a pained look on his face, he deffinitely broke something in there and blood was trickling from his forehead. "Now I'm sorry to drag you out of there so abruptly but I think you would prefer this instead of a horde of my colleagues." He noticed the angry look on her face so decided to play things out slowly. "You seem to know more about that....thing out there then I do. What the hell was that?" He noticed someone swiping a keycard trough the digital lock on the door and his boss poked his head inside, red hot with anger. "Ojobi! What the heck happened here?!" Only now he noticed I was not alone and he annoyingly sighed. "Once you're done here, my office! A.S.A.P!" The door closed with a bang and he dropped his head in the palm of his hand, sighing. "Oh boy what did I get myself into this time...."

"Well I wasn't fired, luckily. Otherwise it would have been a pain to get this thing on the plane with me on the way here." he held up the blade. Then gently re-sheathed it. "But I guess you can understand that I had to endure jokes for the rest of my time there. Staying in a blinded room for so long with a girl of my age raised eyebrows."

Reminiscence of the past (Lúthien) Empty Re: Reminiscence of the past (Lúthien)

"Being here wasn't exactly part of my grand plan though. I sort of had the plan to stick around for about a month before making a run for it again. I am fairly good at running. The plan was to head to Germany and start travelling to Italy by foot from there and live in Rome. It's not like they could find me there." Lúthien said with a laugh, remembering the meeting she'd had with Calix in the woods fondly, although she'd planned to run at that time. She'd tried to run, to escape him. Calix had locked her in place here. He'd given her a place in this world. Her idea of living in old Rome had disappeared completely and made way for new futures, new plans. Now her dreams revolved around Calix and sharing a life with him. Everything included, children, a house and marriage. It was strange for a person her age to be so serious about a relationship but she was demigod and knowing life could end at any moment. Still, she wasn't in a hurry and could wait for another decade if that was needed.

When he asked if she remembered the heirloom she nodded. "So that's the famed heirloom you received." She said, not bothering to ask. It was obvious. She walked over and looked the thing over a couple of times before giving it a disapproving look. "I get family heirlooms but you're not going to fight with that, are you?" She asked with some disbelief in her voice. "It's more like a knitting needle than a sword." She said, studying the thin frilly piece of metal. It was really not a decent weapon and she didn't have a clue how somebody intended to do some proper fighting with it. She walked to her bunk and removed her gladius from underneath the sheets. "This is what we call proper." She stated dryly, swinging the blade around a couple of times. Most definitively not a knitting needle. Those kinds of blades could be used for the traditional Roman style of fighting.

Lúthien had finally managed to kill the darned monster and the wind slowly drove the dust away. That was one problem out of the way. She looked at the security dude with a look that clearly stated that he was in trouble. Strangely, it was her that should have been on the receiving end of that look rather than the giving. While he helped her up she noticed the crowd gawking. Since Lúthien was in a bad mood she glared at them. "What, never saw a girl in a dress fight back before?" She snapped at them and they were quick to mind their own business again. With a deathly glare at the crowd she slumped along with the guard, picking her shoe up along the way. She gave the guard a tired look. "I'm not the talkative type. Not even when a Roman demigod asks the questions." She said, muttering the last sentence. He was already getting on her nerves. All she wanted was to catch a plane home to Austria. This wasn't helping one bit.

He seemed to understand the situations quick enough, although her constant radiation and glares probably helped to convey the point. She waited for him to finish with the overly large amount of talking before she intended to speak. His questions only confirmed her suspicions though, as the mortals all saw different things through the mist, although never the truth. This guy had seen the truth. When he was done with first aid (which Lúthien saw as useless when she'd noticed the ambroisa squares in her clutch) Lúthien took the icepack and put that on the table, breaking off a little ambroisa for herself and the dude. She shoved it in his direction. "Eat and listen." She said. That was when his boss peeked around the corner. The radiation grew and she noticed it rubbing off on the guy. The boss that was. With a satisfied smirk on her face, the boss left. "That's probably my fault." She said cheerfully. "Eat." She said plaintively while taking a bite herself.

When she'd eaten the food and the worst of her injuries had gone again, Lúthien looked at the guy. "I didn't poison it, you know. If you want to get rid of those injures, eat." She said, getting impatient and angry again. "Now, that thing was a cyclops. Just one of the many monsters a demigod can encounter. Get used to it, this was only the first one you'll meet. Start looking over your shoulder and stop trusting every random person you meet. They might just be out to kill you. Don't worry, it's not your fault. One of your parents was one of the Roman gods or goddesses. They might pop up to claim you but don't count on it. If you ever want to be safe again, make your way to the wolves house. It's in the USA. there a wolf named Lupa will train you and send you on your way to camp Jupiter where you can join the Legion. The leaders are my ex-boyfriend who dumped me in the most unseemly way less than a day ago and my lovely brother. I probably won't be there when you arrive but that doesn't really matter. Any questions?" She said, speaking relatively fast for somebody who expected the others to know nothing. Her mood wasn't patient though, and that was the bad luck this guy had. Lúthien was anything but happy.

Lúthien blinked a few times at the jokes he'd had to endure. "Idiots." She said shaking her head. "And I'm glad you didn't get fired. I wasn't in a good mood that day and that probably didn't really help." She said with a bit of a weak smile.

"Well I'm glad to see you here then. Can't say I know anyone else as good as you yet in here." Ojobi chuckled at her remark about his sword. "Well of course I'm going to use it. Doesn't look like there's another laying around here right? And besides. It's over fifty years old and it's still in perfect condition. I don't even know what metal it's made from but it's certainly not regular steel. If it was it would have been scrap by now." She showed him her sword, a gladius. He frowned. It wouldn't be like it was overly superior to his rapier but he at least had a longer reach then her with his weapon. And in a fight that can be decisive. He glanced at his suitcase that he had shoved under his bunk and thought about his combat suit. 'Better not show her yet. She'll think that i'd go to a festival with it or something.'.

After he had made sure his boss was gone she had handed him a piece of what looked like caramel fudge. He frowned. "You got to be kidding me?" He glanced at the piece and watched her eat it. Somehow her ankle didn't seem so hurt anymore. She kept urging him to eat the stuff so ultimately, thinking 'what harm can it do anyway' he ate the stuff. Not long after the pain in his chest stopped and his head didn't bleed anymore. "okay...So whats going on here now seriously? you mentioned a roman demigod?" He listened as she explained what was going on and merely shook his head. "Well I think you can figure I have a lot of questions. One of them being, who or what are you? And me being a demigod? No way." He looked at her. Her face was deadly serious and somehow he knew that if he'd dismiss this as garbage he would come out a worse shape then the cyclops, or whatever the girl called it. "Okay so lets just assume for a minute that what you say is true and that me and you are....demigods." He thought about the term. Half-god is what it meant. It could be true as he didn't know his real parents and his adoption parents didn't want to tell him anything about them, they had only given him the sword that they said once belonged to one of them. But that was it. No legacy or further bloodline. Only his surname; Lithién. But he still found it unbelievable. He was a nobody. Not the son of a god. "How can you prove that this is all true?"

"Oh, it's okay. I could understand as we were both nearly killed...Well at least I was." He looked up at her again, stowing away his rapier. "What made you come back though? You said you probably wouldn't be around here when I would arrive. I don't suppose you came back all this way to say hello to me." He grinned.

Lúthien gave the sword a look that clearly doubted if it could even kill a mouse if it ran straight at it. She honestly didn't know how he was going to survive in a fair fight, sword on... knitting needle. She guessed it could fare against a monster if he could use it in whatever the conventional way was for things that couldn't handle taking a proper blow. Well, at least he didn't need much more for a convincing Halloween costume. Lúthien suspected he actually had some outfit that went with the thing, as most sports had strange outfit, or just comfortable ones. Most sports had those but the ones with weapons, those usually got the strange suits. Lúthien didn't much care though, if Ojobi liked dressing up like a bit of a fool that was his problem. She just hoped he didn't expected people to take him serious with that weapon and outfit. It would be most questionable if that would ever happen.

Lúthien was getting a little impatient with the boy. She sat still, hardly even moving, although her eyes observed every movement he made as he ate the ambrosia. She didn't roll her eyes or showed any sign of irritation most normal people would recognise as such. Lúthien tended to go still and motionless at times of growing anger. Not to mention she started saying things that made sure she didn't catch blame while she angered the other person to no end. Seemingly innocent words. Ojobi obviously wasn't having a good day. "For the smart ones, there is only one question. Where is Lupa? I suppose you're not one of those." She said dryly. Her irritation got worse when he went on asking what she was. "I'm the daughter of Discordia, Goddess of Chaos and Discord, which means I can anger you boss without him knowing it's me that got his knickers in a twist." She said without even the trace of a smile. Lúthien was seriously considering it.

"Why not assume the sky is blue while you're at it." She replied with an air of carelessness as he assumed they were demigods. He wanted to prove her she was a demigod and he was one too. Lúthien smiled a little smile as she held the ambrosia up. "This, Mr. Security Guard, is ambrosia, the food of the gods. If a mortal eats it, he or she spontaneously burns up. If a demigod eats it, he or she can have their injuries healed up to a certain extent. If you want that proven, we'll feed it to your boss and let you witness the result." She said her tone a freezing cold one. She talked about murder as if it was no big deal, that was the extent of her anger. "If you want more, I'll use my powers on you. Trust me, not pleasant." She said in a very pleasant tone. She realised she was radiating like crazy but she hardly even cared at that point. He talked too much anyway.

When he asked what brought her back she smiled brightly. "Calix." It was all the explanation she thought needed as he had brought her back in more than one way. Back to happiness, sanity and the place she belonged. The place where he'd found her, and shown her that love was possible, even for her.

"Ahh, so that's why." Ojobi grinned. "could have figured. What did you want to do in Rome anyway? Seems like it's a whole lot more fun here." It wasn't his place to doubt her decisions but he found it weird that she would go out there while she could be here with more of her kind. Although a child of Discordia probably didn't care about that anyway. "Oh well, no matter. i'm here now though, what's up next?"

He tensed. She looked like she was about to snap and chop his head off. he frowned as she started making remarks on his stupidity. And he noticed he was losing his temper as well. 'Discordia? Wasn't that a greek god?' He began developing a headache and he didn't know if it was the cause of this girl or the stuff she told him. As she told him what the stuff was that he consumed earlier he nearly started vomiting. "You're telling me you nearly got me killed again? Well that's great to hear. Why not kill me now and be done with it? Why did you even save me from that....Cyclops then?" He sighed, he knew it wasn't him talking. "Ok, I'm sorry. Shouldn't have said that...I'm just having a very bad day at the moment." As she talked about feeding it to his boss he shook his head. a smile appearing even though he was seriously getting pissed. "That'll get us both locked up, as much as I would have liked it." But then he realized why she was doing this. She was here in trouble, only one way forward and he was her only safe getaway from this whole mess. He had no doubt that she would do it the hard way if things turned nasty. He calmed down, thinking how they where going to get out of this mess without killing every single person that got in the way. "Okay listen. We both have a problem here, I'm going to be hunted down for the rest of my life and you're trapped here. So I got a proposal for you. Let's just forget this ever happened, you show me where I need to go and I'll get you on that plane that leaves in ten minutes. Sounds good?"
