Appearance :: Izzy is a pretty average looking guy of his age, with looks that suggest Asian descent. He has black hair that he works hard to keep completely under control, which isn’t too hard with how straight and thin it is and the feathery cut, pretty normal length of it. His eyes are a dark brown, almost black in certainly light. Occasionally he’ll grow out a little bit of scruff, but it never gets too long until Izzy gets frustrated by it and shaves. Most of the time, Izzy wears clothes for comfort rather than looks- t-shirts, hoodies, jeans…nothing too complicated or special. Occasionally he’ll dress fancier, but only if he really has to. Due to all his adventuring, Izzy is always sure to wear comfy walking shoes…he has a very nice, expensive pair that his parents got him as a birthday gift. It’s hard to find him wearing any other kind of shoe, aside from sandals in the summer from time to time. As far as Izzy is concerned, his looks aren’t anything special, and he doesn’t feel the need to impress anyone, anyway. Anyone who really cares isn’t going to mind his simple, not necessarily flattering t-shirts and loose jeans. The one thing Izzy really indulges in are socks. He loves brightly colored and silly socks, probably partially because no one can see them. At 5’10”, Izzy is of average height, though he tends to hunch his shoulders. With all of this, Izzy just tries to be sensible about his looks and style of dress. Most of the time, he’d prefer blending in rather than standing out in a crowd.

History :: In the middle of a debatable hurricane that hit London, a hooded figure left an infant in a small orphanage connected to a church. The nuns heard the heavy doors open and saw a dark shape moving away from the church in the storm. When they rushed downstairs, they saw the infant in torn swaddling, pushing the door shut before rushing the shivering child into the warm hall. There was a birth certificate under his top blanket, though most of the information was unreadable from the rain. The only piece the nuns could make out was a birthdate, 2, January 1999. As was their duty, and kind hearts, the nuns took in the child, naming him Isidore and nursing him back to health from obvious sickness and hunger. Isidore was always a strange child. The nuns would often see him staring at thin air and waving his fist around, among other things they dismissed as childish behavior. Children came and went from the orphanage, but no one seemed too keen on the young child. There were whispers among the nuns about him making the other children uncomfortable…there were even times when he made the nuns uncomfortable. As he grew up, Isidore felt the disconnect. Even at a young age, he could tell he was different. In small ways, such as his peers not wanting to play with him. At five years old, Isidore refused to be called by his given name, finally stubbornly agreeing to the name Izzy. He stopped trying to play with his peers, and a nun named Alice taught him to read. By then, the boy was so alienated that he didn’t want anything to do with his peers. He’d sit under a tree with small toys or a book. Sometime the nuns would catch him as he tried to wander into London, something the headstrong child came to resent. Shortly before he turned six, a young couple came through the orphanage. Cody and Julia Abney were unable to have children of their own but wanted a child. The two instantly fell in love with Izzy, a surprise to the nuns, though they hid their shock quite well. The boy went home with his new parents in record time, and was introduced to his new home. Julia was a copy editor and Cody was a music teacher by day and a jazz saxophonist by night. Their family was small and they weren’t necessarily the wealthiest, but the two loved their son, and Izzy loved them. Growing up, Izzy loved going through London. His parents encouraged this by taking him around the city and letting him explore (though never on his own). When he started school, the boy had a tough time in the classroom, wanting nothing more than to be outside exploring the city more. He felt stifled in his uniform, and tried to hide the fact that he already knew how to read. Just as it had been in the orphanage, Izzy had a hard time with his classmates, often being bullied. Despite his attitude, Izzy tried his hardest…not so much for him, but for not wanting to let his parents down. Cody and Julia loved him no matter what, but Izzy wanted to be the best for them. After a few years of torture in school, the Abney’s decided to pull Izzy from school and homeschool him. Julia left her job to be there for her son full time. At age eleven, in what would have been his first year of secondary education, Izzy was able to make the switch…and it was the best thing that could have happened to him. He finally had the freedom to learn what he wanted to, explore London, and not have to deal with his peers. A year later, the Abney family got new next door neighbors. A girl, Izzy’s age, and also homeschooled, became the boy’s best friend. Leanne was the best friend Izzy could ask for. Izzy and Leanne would go on countless adventures together, whether it be in one of their backyards or through the city they loved. The two did everything together. And by fourteen, Leanne was very in love with her best friend…a feeling that Izzy couldn’t return. He was finding that, as much as he wanted to love Leanne back, he was much more interested in her older brother Leighton. Things were getting more and more strained between the formerly unspeakable best friends. When Izzy admitted to Leanne that he thought he was gay, she was furious, and wanted nothing to do with him. This send Izzy into a terrible depression. His thirst for adventure was nothing like it had been…in fact, he barely left the house at all. Julia and Cody were terrified for their fifteen year old son, and tried to find something to keep him going. He didn’t want to learn, or read, or explore…he just sat, oftentimes staring at a blank notebook with his hand balanced over the page like he wanted to write, but couldn’t. Finally, he told them how hard a time he was having…and that he wanted to get better. The Abney’s invested in psychiatric help. Things started getting better…Izzy was still struggling, but he knew he didn’t have to be in it alone. Julia and Cody did everything they could for him. He was open with them and accepted their support, as much as Izzy wished he could hold onto his independence. His parents assured him they still trusted him, but they wanted to help. And Izzy knew this was true. After months of fighting the illness, Izzy was getting better. He even came out to his parents…who loved him anyway, of course. A few years passed mostly uneventfully. There were always strange things lurking in that shadows…strange things that Izzy didn’t understand. Giant dogs and strange giants that hid under hoods. Izzy was constantly in and out of struggles, going from depressed to functioning to fine, back to depressed again. But he never gave up trying. For a late eighteenth birthday gift, Cody and Julia surprised Izzy with a trip to America- to Salem, Massachusetts. The boy had always been fascinated with the histories of various witch hunts, and his parents thought it was perfect to take him to one of the more famous spots. While in Salem, Izzy wandered around the town, visiting famous spots and haunted attractions. On a trip by himself to the supposed grave sites of many of the victims of the witch hunt, the boy wasn’t even paying attention when a giant dog appeared out of no where. Over the years, Izzy had seen many strange things out of the corner of his eye, or watching him closely, but he always figured it was his imagination…or the depression playing tricks on him. Nothing had never actually attacked him…until this giant dog jumped him. Terrified, Izzy took off running, not stopping until he reached the main town and was sure he had lost the dog. Cody and Julia couldn’t figure out what Izzy was trying to tell them through his words and severe out of breath state. Giant dog? Probably just got away from his owner. NO, giant dog! We’re sure he wasn’t as bad as you’re thinking. Angrily, Izzy tried to explain what he saw. The floodgates broke and the boy broke down. There was a scratching at the door to their hotel room, which spooked Cody and Julia despite their insistence that there was no giant dog. Without thinking, Izzy opened the door, revealing a wolf. The family went silent, but only Izzy heard her words…it’s time to leave. Throwing together a bag, Izzy promised his parents he’d be okay. He never belonged…and somehow he knew this wolf would help him. As if in a trance, Cody and Julia said goodbye to their son…and Izzy started a new chapter of his life.

Personality Description :: Izzy has always known he’s different, something he hated as a child but has come to accept now that he’s older. Having been excluded and bullied his whole life, he isn’t very good with people. Sometimes he can’t control the fine line between awkward and a total mess, and he’s never really been able to learn that fine line. School psychiatrists, and other mental health workers, suggested to Julia and Cody that Izzy might have Asperger’s, but they always had a feeling it was something much different, a fact they were correct about, even if they didn’t know the truth of it all. Trust is one of the hardest things for Izzy. He never had it in his peers or the nuns at the orphanage. Julia and Cody were the first people the boy learned to trust, and the only ones who never let them down. Izzy thought he would always be able to trust Leanne, but her betrayal hurt him deeply and made trust mostly out of the question. Despite this, the boy has learned the element of blind faith…though that was mostly after Lupa showed up at the hotel door and instructed Izzy to follow her. He saw this as something deeper than trust…he knew he had to follow her. Through various issues, Izzy has a hard time not keeping secrets. He pretended he didn’t know how to read in school, and kept quiet about deeper things, such as hiding his depression from his parents. Whenever he’s about to tell someone a secret, Izzy has to check himself a million times over. When Leanne scorned him after he came out to her, it became something to keep to himself…sometimes even something to be ashamed of. Izzy has gotten good at keeping secrets. All this combined leaves Izzy rather stoic. He constantly has up his guard, and rarely lets anyone see the squishy, emotional side of him. This, however, is something he is working on, as he knows it’s no way to live…especially now that he’s in a place where he won’t be judged because of how is or anything that makes him “different”. Izzy feels more comfortable at camp than he’s ever really felt anywhere else. On his good days, Izzy is an unstoppable force. He’s smily and energetic, and wants to accomplish everything. These are the times that Izzy wants to explore again, he wants to wander and discover. Getting to Camp Jupiter 2.0 has been one of the best things that has ever happened to the boy…the good days are getting more and more frequent, and Izzy feels like he’s finally home.
