The Arms of Rome (Open) Empty The Arms of Rome (Open)

Two days Giles has spent in this city. He has not learned much of why he is here, really the only thing he has learned is that the locals call it New Rome. The past two days all he has done is try and get his bearings around the city. The whole I’m not in Boston thing is still very new to him. Occasionally he hears that there is an arena where these “Romans” practice fighting. “It has been a while since my last scape,” he says to himself, and proceeds to walk there. After three hours of wandering around side alleys he finally found it. He sees the denizens of the place fight one another and it is nothing like what he is used to. He sees swords and shields, javelins and spears, nothing that he is used to. “What have I gotten myself into!” he mutters. He sees a couple of practice dummies across from the entrance, so he heads over there seeing that he does not want to make a mockery of himself. He takes a few slashes at one with the dulled knife that he carries around and notices that this is not going to work.

He walks into a weapon storage house and is found dumbstruck by the sheer amount of type of weaponry that there are here. These are no firearms that he is used to seeing; no this is the type that he has only read about in the libraries. He tries out two types of javelin, a trident, what he knows to be a gladius, and something in between a knife and a sword, and he was not spectacular in any. The sun goes down and he spends another night on another bench. “Tomorrow, tomorrow going to swallow my pride and get over this fear of the unknown and ask someone what going on here,” he says before he goes to sleep. At the crack of dawn he sets out to the arena. It took him less time to get there, only an hour and a half this time. He sits on the floor and says out loud for anyone to hear. “Is anyone out there?” He thinks that he would be used to being ignored by pretty much everyone, sadly no one ever does, and so he waits.

Erik walks into the arena seemingly in a calm and relaxed mood as he walks. He is carrying a pair of black boxing gloves with him as he walks into the large structure. He is dressed in a pair of black Adidas training pants and a purple camp jupiter t shirt. His expression calm and serene as a baby is unchanged when he notices Giles and he offers a slight wave to him, but he does not go and talk to him. He chooses instead to put the boxing gloves on and go to deliver a series of punches to a nearby training doll. The punches themselves are passionless and basic and it is obvious he does not concentrate on the task ahead of him.

Giles notices Erik's wave and walks toward him. "Looking for a fight today there Erik?" he says gesturing toward the gloves. "I probably would not serve as much as a sparring partner, but I'm here to talk if you need it." Giles goes into the armory and pulls out a spear still trying to get comfortable with the Roman weaponry and starts to take some jab at the doll next to his.

Erik does not look away from the doll for one second, but he at least bothers to answer "I am not looking for a fight as much as i am honing my skills" He stops punching the doll and lays a hand on it's forehead. He closes his eyes and his head dips slightly forward while he stands there. It seems like he is intensely focusing on something judging by his furrowed brow. He suddenly snaps his eyes open a starts delivering an intense and quick flurry of punches to the dolls head and gut. If one were to guess his mood from the way he punches. Then one would think he was really really mad, but if you were to judge by his expression then you would think he was avoid of all emotions.

Giles shrugs to his friend response, at least he assumes he friends with Erik. Lets be honest here Erik does not give much away by the way he acts. Giles continues to make some thrust at the dummy. After several unsuccessful jabs Giles gives up with the spear for today and goes back to the armory still looking for that "perfect" weapon style. However he keeps within ear-shot if Erik has anything else to add. Huh, he thinks to himself that was the most amount of emotion Erik has ever shown to him back there.

Well" He said after stopping his assault on that poor doll. He chuckles slightly as he stands there pondering to himself before he turns and walks over to join Giles in the armory. He looks only partially interested at all the weapons in the room "Hmm this should be an interesting thing to look into. So which god or goddess is your parent" He said after tossing a quick glance over at Giles and with just a slightly curious expression

"I haven't the foggiest. To tell you the truth I don't even know if its a god or a goddess. I was doorstepped as soon as I was out of the hospital I assume." Giles thinks about himself. Normally people show some sign of their parent but he does not thing any special skills that he has. He shakes his head to get this thought out. I have waited sixteen years for something about my family he thinks to himself; I can wait until they tell me who they are.

We share that at least" He said with a slight nod and he lifts up a golden gladius and casually examines it before he discards it. He looks back at Giles and shrugs slightly "Honestly it does not really matter to me if i know or not" His tone was completely calm and emotionless and he noddles a few times to him

"The time will come, when the time will come. Until then we wait," Giles says to his compatriot, still wondering what to call him. After looking through the weapons he picks up the same spear that he had before and picks up a shield as well now. Spear and shield are the iconic weapons of Rome so lets give this a try. "Spear, take two," he whispers to himself, if Erik heard it then that fine; if he didn't it does not matter.

After a while of searching trough the armory he finally found a sword more to his liking. He takes out a long spatha and swings it in front of him tryingly. "This would be more effective for me to use considering my height." He walks over to a dummy next to giles and starts a sequence of strikes towards the dummy. He is clearly unfamiliar with the weapon, but he still tries to wield it well.
